Latics swoop for Johnstone

Oldham have signed Manchester United academy goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan following an injury to Dale Connor.[LNB] England youth international Johnstone, 18, has been brought in after Connor cracked a bone in a finger in training on Monday.[LNB]Connor joins Alex Cisak (also finger) and Paul Gerrard (hernia) on the sidelines, leaving 16-year-old Luke Simpson as the only fit keeper on the books.[LNB]Johnstone has been drafted in as temporary cover and will make his first appearance for the club against Burnley on Tuesday night before also appearing in Oldham's final warm-up game at Fleetwood on Saturday.[LNB]"Sam is very highly rated by United and we are delighted he is here to help us out," boss Paul Dickov told the club's official website.
