European Player of the Year? Wayne Rooney[LNB]Former Germany striker and coach Jurgen Klinsmann believes Wayne Rooney is prime candidate to win the European Player of the Year award.[LNB]Klinsmann has enjoyed watching the Manchester United striker terrorise defences this season and expects to challenge for the coveted prize.[LNB]Speaking at the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour in Los Angeles, Klinsmann told UEFA.com: 'Wayne is playing a tremendous season. He's really hungry for goals, and he wants trophies now. He looks calm and confident. So if he continues like that, he might get a shot at the European Player of the Year award."[LNB]Rooney has already scored 32 goals this season and appears to have filled the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo following his move to Real Madrid last summer.[LNB] And Klinsmann claims Rooney has shown he can also defend as well scoring goals from the front for United.[LNB] Hot shot: Rooney cannot stop scoring this season and has now hit 32 goals[LNB]Klinsmann added: "His instinct is just tremendous. He can smell the ball; he knows where it goes, and he's always available for the team. He works hard, he runs backwards and helps defensively. He lives in the moment, and that's the best thing you can do as a football player.'[LNB] Manchester United's old guard will bring us the title, insists Darren Fletcher Manchester United set to hand Gary Neville new one-year dealMANCHESTER UNITED FC
