United are hopeful Phil Jones will be able to shake off the ankle injury he picked up at Arsenal to take his place in the squad that travels up to Liverpool at the weekend. ones was taken off the field on a stretcher during the clash at the Emirates on Sunday and it was first feared that he would be out for a number of weeks according to manager Alex Ferguson.
But either a miracle has happened or Fergie was having somebody on a bit because hopes are high that he will take his place in Saturday's FA Cup tie.
"Phil's character is very good," Phelan admitted.
"He is disappointed that, over the last few weeks, he seems to have limped around the football field quite a bit.
"But he usually manages to recover, so we're optimistic he can do the same again."
