ShareAdmit it. If you could have Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of your team, you would take him. For all their influential players of recent decades, from Bryan Robson and Roy Keane to Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona, Manchester United stand over English football for one reason. [LNB] He has an incredible eye for a player - and what it takes to be a Manchester United player - and he is a psychologist with an insatiable desire to win. [LNB] Single-minded: Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't mind who he crosses to achieve success[LNB] He doesn't mind who he crosses to achieve that, which is perhaps why he will never be universally appreciated, but he will always do what it takes for Manchester United to succeed.[LNB] Listen to his words when he speaks. He is not driven by ego to promote himself; always the team, always Manchester United. There are a few managers who would do well to observe his approach. [LNB] A lot of his opponents are afraid of him, because of the power he wields. He is a formidable rival, who will push the boundaries if there is a chance to gain an advantage for Manchester United. What's wrong with that?[LNB] Walking around Wembley in preparation for Sky's extended coverage of today's game, you understand the size of this moment. The two biggest clubs in world football, playing at our national stadium. This is set to be something very special. If Manchester United win, it will be his greatest achievement as a manager, because I expect Barcelona to have too much for them. [LNB] In control: Alex Ferguson will believe his team can beat Barcelona[LNB] United are in the unusual position of being underdogs. They must not be wasteful with the ball and a player such as Michael Carrick may need to have the game of his life.[LNB] Ferguson will be plotting the downfall of Pep Guardiola and will believe in his team. That's a great strength. We will never see a manager have such control of a club and such a powerful influence on football again. And when will we ever see a manager come from a provincial club to be given a chance at one of the great clubs, as Ferguson did when he moved from Aberdeen?[LNB] But tonight, can he come up with a plan to stop the mesmerising midfield play of Andres Iniesta and Xavi? [LNB] Can he stop Lionel Messi? Or will that be beyond even Fergie's powers?
