Is Manchester United the perfect destination for Robert Lewandowski?

If recent reports are to be believed, then it is more a matter of when, and not if, we will see Borussia Dortmund's star striker Robert Lewandowski in the red of Manchester United.

The Polish international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for months now and looks as if he could finally be on his way to Manchester next year, if this is the case, then Premier League rivals such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal should be afraid, very afraid.

Lewandowski is perfectly suited to the English top flight and I'm backing him to be a huge success. Along with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney the trio will become the most potent attacking force in the Premier League.

Lewandowski first caught the eye of Europe's top clubs last season when he led the line for Dortmund in superb fashion and helped his club become champions of the Bundesliga for the second successive season. The striker netted an impressive 30 goals in 47 games in all competitions and has started this season in similar fashion. Already scoring 14 goals in 20 games, including goals against Real Madrid to help Dortmund progress into the knock-out stages of the Champions League as group winners in arguably the toughest group in the competition.

When you look back at the strikers time at Dortmund it is no wonder Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate to sign him.

The 24-year-old's height and physique would see him excel in the Premier League. Standing at 6ft tall and weighing in at over 12 stone would make him more than a match for any of the top flights defenders.

Sir Alex Ferguson would pair Lewandowski with summer signing and prolific goalscorer Robin van Persie, the though of these two strikers being on the team sheet for Manchester United is enough to worry any rival manager. Then add Wayne Rooney in just behind the Lewandowski and van Persie and you get one of the most lethal attacking trio's the Premier League has ever seen, with the potential to run riot against any defence they come up against.

Another reason Lewandowski would do well at Manchester United is the fact that former Borussia Dortmund team mate Shinji Kagawa is now plying his trade at Old Trafford. The pair linked up brilliantly in Germany and would surely do the same in England, giving United that much more potency in the attacking third. Having a former team mate at a new club could also help Lewandowski settle in at United, which would be a boost to the Red Devils on and off the pitch.

When you take a closer look at Lewandowski it is obvious to see why United and Sir Alex Ferguson covet the player so much and with a reported price tag of just ₤12 million he would be a bargain buy. There is still room for the striker to improve, to, under the stewardship of Sir Alex the 24-year-old has the potential to go on and do great things.

Do you think Manchester United would be the perfect destination for Robert Lewandowski?
