I'm fit! Rio hands Fergie a boost before Barca clash - but he must face Hull first

Rio Ferdinand last night declared himself fit for the Champions League final in Rome - then volunteered to prove he is ready for Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o by playing at Hull on Sunday. Manchester United centre back Ferdinand has missed the last two weeks with a calf strain and has been struggling to rid himself of the problem ahead of next Wednesday's showdown against Barcelona. Now the 30-year-old has revealed he is back in training and ready to face Barcelona's feared forward line of Messi, Eto'o and Thierry Henry. Ferdinand said: 'I've not thought about not playing in the final. It's as simple as that - no chance. I trained with the ball today and did some running, so I'm doing all the movements I need to be doing before a game. This has been perhaps the hardest and most important injury battle of my career. There is so much at stake. 'I haven't even thought much about the actual details of the final. I've been so engrossed in my injury that I haven't thought about much else. I'll start thinking about the actual match when I'm sitting on the plane to Rome.'
