Hull boss gives up chase on £5m Sunderland-bound star Fraizer Campbell

Hull City have resigned themselves to missing out on Fraizer Campbell with manager Phil Brown admitting that the striker is heading for Sunderland. Hull made a £6m bid on June 7, which was accepted by Campbell's club Manchester United, but the deal was not finalised. The problem appeared to be Campbell agreeing a settlement with United regarding the rest of his contract. The apparently imminent move was then destabilised when former United centre back Steve Bruce became interested. Sunderland boss Bruce registered his interest last week and bid £5m for the England Under 21 hitman today.
