Hughes tight-lipped on Tevez

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has refused to comment on reports linking him with a move for Carlos Tevez. The Manchester United forward's two-year loan at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the season and he has yet to agree a permanent deal. Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that discussions are taking place with Tevez but, with the Argentine's representative, Kia Joorabchian, claiming no offer has been made, speculation continues to rage. City - along with Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich - have been credited with a big-money interest in the 25-year-old as attacking reinforcements are understood to be a priority ahead of the summer transfer window. However, Hughes is keen to remain tight-lipped on the situation, telling Sky Sports News when asked about any audacious attempt to bring the striker across Manchester: "I am not going to talk about individual players. "The player you are talking about is obviously contracted to another club so I am not prepared to discuss." Billionaire Hughes, though, insists that City - backed by the money of billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour - will be honest about their transfer plans when targets are identified. The wealthy Eastlands outfit have most recently been linked with Genoa star Diego Milito and Benfica defender Luisao, and Hughes is adamant that supporters will be informed when the club are ready to enter the market. "When we have anything to say about players that we are after, then we will tell you," added the Welshman. "If we make approaches, then that will be in the public domain very quickly because we find that it does not take long for people to find out anyway. "So until there is any news on any player, then it is not right or proper that I comment on individual players."
