How Wayne Rooney will scoop the jackpot if he stays at United

Wayne Rooney will be offered a lucrative bonus package designed to keep him from the clutches of Real Madrid and Barcelona - but he will have to wait until next month to thrash out a new contract. [LNB]Manchester United insisted yesterday their prize asset would not be sold 'at any price' and underlined their resolve by drawing up a remarkable list of incentives in a new long-term deal. [LNB]Despite suggestions that terms have already been put to Rooney's advisers, Sportsmail understands negotiations are on hold until at least March and are unlikely to be concluded before the end of the season.[LNB] In the money: United's Wayne Rooney (centre) celebrates with team-mates[LNB] United are convinced Rooney will stay and chief executive David Gill claimed the Glazer family would not sell against Sir Alex Ferguson's wishes. [LNB]'Unless Alex agreed to it, we would not accept an offer, regardless of the value, for a player we wanted to keep,' he told BBC Radio 5 Live. [LNB]United have drafted a contract that would reward the striker for his achievements. On top of a £120,0000-a-week basic wage, he would earn £250,000 if he became FIFA World Player of the Year, £100,000 for each of the PFA Player of the Year and European Golden Boot awards and £50,000 for being the Premier League leading scorer. [LNB]United feel the package will appeal to Rooney and end fears that he may follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Spain this summer. [LNB]But with his agent Paul Stretford's FA ban for a breach of rules in force until March, nothing will be discussed for at least another month. [LNB]Gill said: 'Wayne has a contract until 2012 and has gone on record to say he wants to stay. We want him to, and I'm sure that will be addressed in the close-season. We want to put him on a new long-term contract. He's 24 and has got the best years of his life ahead of him. Very few players, particularly UK-based ones, want to leave United.'[LNB] Ferguson, who praised his striker's brilliant performance at Arsenal yesterday, added: 'I'm sure David will be working with Paul Stretford. And hopefully something does happen.'[LNB] Arsenal 1 Manchester United 3: Rooney the destroyer - Sharpshooter Wayne shatters Gunners' title illusions with a little help from Nani Ex-Arsenal great Thierry Henry hails Manchester United hotshot Wayne RooneyFuture's so bright we need shades - Sportsmail enjoys Arsenal v Manchester United in groundbreaking 3D broadcastWe made massive errors, admits Arsenal boss Arsene WengerMANCHESTER UNITED FC
