After plenty of speculation about his future, goalkeeper David de Gea was the focus of attention during Manchester United’s final home game of the season. So how did he get on during the 1-1 draw with Arsenal?

Temperament

David de Gea
(Barrington Coombs/EMPICS Sport)

Looked cool and calm for most of his 74 minutes on the field. He had little to do in the first half but was alert and acted quickly and decisively when required as Arsenal stepped up their game after the break. There was only one slight error, as Aaron Ramsey almost sneaked in, but that hardly let him down. He acknowledged the supportive crowd as he limped off, but that gave away little about his state of mind.

Shot-stopping

Was hardly called upon, but when he was he spread himself well to deny Olivier Giroud what would have been a well-worked breakthrough. The Gunners otherwise struggled to get sight of his goal.

Movement

Had one scare when he was unable to reach a cross and Ramsey poked the ball towards goal. Marcos Rojo came to his rescue but over the season he has earned such luck. His movement was otherwise positive – and that proved his downfall in the end as he landed awkwardly after leaping to punch away a cross.

Distribution

David de Gea
(Adam Davy/PA)
Excellent. Twice he launched counter-attacks, once with a quick kick downfield and another with a superb throw for Ashley Young. Neither materialised into anything significant but on another day his good eye for such openings will reap rewards.

Overall impression

Another composed performance from the highly-coveted goalkeeper. There were no obvious signs in his body language that this was a farewell to Old Trafford, suggesting the 24-year-old still has decisions to make in the coming weeks.
