Manchester United have been linked with several midfield targets with various news outlets reporting that contact has been made Ilkay Gundogan, Morgan Schneiderlin and even Paul Pogba.

The Metro now reports that Manchester United have managed to beat Arsenal to reaching an agreement with Morgan Schneiderlin for a move in the summer window. The Southampton star has often expressed his desire to play in the Champions League and Manchester United are a relatively safe bet to qualify. The idea is that a midfield pairing with Fellaini will give the Manchester side more stability and strength at attacking and defending set pieces.

Getting a starting place promises to be difficult as United are thought to be on the verge of announcing the signing of Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund. It gets even tougher for the supposed new arrivals as competition for a midfield position is already stiff with Ander Herrera and Daley Blind doing a fairly good job alongside Wayne Rooney in central midfield.

It remains to be seen whether Schneiderlin will actually sign and if so how United will line up next season with a plethora of midfield choices to select from.
