League leaders Arsenal are thought to be keeping a close eye on Liverpool defender Glen Johnson's situation, as talks regarding a new contract seemed to have stalled.
29 year old Johnson is apparently not looking to renew his current deal, which has 18 months to run with the Anfield club. It is believed that the England full-back is looking for a new challenge and Arsenal are lining up an offer to bring him to The Emirates Stadium.
Wenger sees Johnson as the ideal replacement for Bacary Sagna who is expected to leave Arsenal this summer. London born Johnson may see this as a perfect opportunity to return home, especially if Liverpool fails to qualify for the Champions League this season.
The transfer rumors will continue to fly over the next few weeks and another that has been unearthed recently is Robin Van Persie’s apparent unhappiness at Manchester United. If reports are true, expect the 30 year old Dutchman to be playing at the Nou Camp in 2014, and possibly being replaced by current Napoli striker, Lorenzo Insigne and the aptly named Everton Ribeiro from Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
With the dreadful start to his Manchester United managerial career, a failure to qualify for The Champions League may just lead to a mass exodus from United with Van Persie already looking likely to start the trend. Who next? Januzaj to Real Madrid…Rooney to Chelsea…Fellaini to Swindon maybe…
