Heaton plans United exit

UNITED reserve keeper Tom Heaton is looking to leave Old Trafford in January after returning to the Reds from a three-month loan period with Queens Park Rangers. Though the 23-year-old only played two Carling Cup matches for Rangers boss Jim Magilton, he would still love a permanent move to Loftus Road. "In an ideal world, I would have stayed down at QPR until January, but there's no loophole in the agreement," said Heaton. "It was a three-month loan and now we can't do anything until the new year. "My contract at United's up in the summer and, from a personal point of view it's time to move on and start afresh, so I'm hoping to secure a permanent move in January. "If there's a chance of that being to QPR, I'd certainly be very, very interested. "I've had a couple of conversations with the manager and he's been happy with what I've done since I've been here. "The manager's impressed me an awful lot as well and the club appear to be moving in the right direction. "Every player wants to play in the Premier League and I'm no different." Magilton would also be happy to take Heaton back for good in 2010. "Tom has been outstanding for us from the day he walked into the club," said Magilton. "He's a first-class pro and sets the standards by which the others follow. "We're quite hopeful that we will be able to do something in January and I'll be doing everything within my power to push it through. "He's left an unbelievable impression with both myself, the staff and the players and we'd love to have him back here. Meanwhile United brought Austrian keeper Michael Langer over for a trial. The 24-year-old is currently second choice at German club Freiburg.
