Wayne Rooney believes his two-goal performance for Manchester United in the San Siro was his best performance away from home in the Champions League.[LNB]Rooney already has one stand-out performance in his European memory bank after scoring a hat-trick for United on his debut against Fenerbahce at Old Trafford in 2004.[LNB]But his form on the road has not always been up to scratch which only maximised the impact of his contribution to United's 3-2 win at AC Milan on Tuesday night.Rooney said: 'Yeah, it probably was my best away performance. Hopefully I'll keep scoring.[LNB] Golden goal: Wayne Rooney celebrates.... [LNB]'I'm delighted to score two goals in such a big game and it was a great result for us. It's not just me who has improved, I think the team has improved a lot over the last few months.[LNB]'We've been more consistent and we've been getting the results we need and I think that has definitely helped me with my game.'[LNB]Rooney spent part of his time off last summer practising his heading and it seems to be paying off. The 24-year-old had scored only five headers in the Barclays Premier League in five-and-a-half years at United and Tuesday's were the first he had ever scored that way in the Champions League.[LNB]'I'm getting in the six-yard box more and that's helping me score those goals,' he said. 'It's the main thing I've been working on, so it's been worthwhile.'[LNB]Rooney's performance this week came in front of his England team-mate David Beckham.[LNB] ...after heading home against Milan the first time[LNB]The AC Milan midfielder believes Rooney can maintain his form into this summer's World Cup. [LNB]'Burn-out won't be a problem for him,' said Beckham. 'Wayne is ready for any game. It doesn't matter how many he has played or how many he will be involved in to the end of the season.[LNB]'He can sustain that level until the middle of July. He is only 24 of course he can! He looks after himself. I wouldn't like to see him do it again against us but I'd like it in the World Cup.'[LNB]If Tuesday night in Milan was good for Rooney, it was not so good for United's back line.Central defender Jonny Evans was told to 'f****** wake up' by his manager Sir Alex Ferguson in the first half.[LNB]Captain Rio Ferdinand could have been sent off and young right back Rafael spent much of the 90 minutes chasing a shadow by the name of Ronaldinho.[LNB] Wayne Rooney reveals how Sir Alex Ferguson made him a United hot shotWayne Rooney can be the best in the world, claims David BeckhamBayern move to beat Premier League giants in race for £13m winger KrasicOld Trafford turns 100: Sportsmail looks back at stadium's landmark eventsMANCHESTER UNITED FC
