HATCHET MAN: Welcome to Arsene's crazy red and white tinted world where the Adebayor/Bendtner partn

Arsene Wenger appears to be myopic one minute and blinded by the red and white of Arsenal the next. But one thing is for sure, there is something wrong with his eyes if he thinks his team are as good as Manchester United. The Frenchman has fallen back on stats to try to justify another season of failure for his club. Have you heard? Arsene thinks we're as good as Rooney and Ronaldo... ...and even the United duo can see the funny side of that 'We have scored similar amount of goals,' he said. 'We have conceded more but the passing and quality in the final third, we are as good as United.'  It is absolute rubbish. Arsenal play nice football, that is a given, and they have scored only three fewer goals than United in the Premier League but they are nowhere near as menacing as an attacking force. Arsenal do not dominate teams in the final third the way the Champions-in-waiting do, they do not defend from the front with their attacking approach. If you asked Premier League defenders who they would rather face: Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner or Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, there would be absolutely no competition. United are nasty to defend against and, if we are looking at the stats, they show that Sir Alex Ferguson's side know how to bully the lesser teams. Arsenal don't have that strength, they keep the ball in harmless areas and counter with pace. One team packs a punch, the other stings you occasionally and, not for the first time, Wenger is not seeing the bigger picture.
