Harry Redknapp reveals: Spurs DO want to sign David Beckham on loan
Harry Redknapp last night confirmed he wants to bring David Beckham back to England after claiming the veteran midfielder would be invaluable to Tottenham's push for domestic and European glory.[LNB]Tottenham target: LA Galaxy's David Beckham[LNB]Beckham's camp have made positive noises over a move to White Hart Lane, following the 35-year-old's decision to soften his stance of not playing for any English club but Manchester United.[LNB]The former England captain just needs to secure a release from LA Galaxy until the start of the MLS season in mid-March.[LNB]Redknapp said: 'David could make a big impact. It's whether Galaxy will let him go on loan. If they did we'd be interested. He'd give the whole place a lift. [LNB]'He's been a fantastic player and someone the players would look up to and respect. He can do a job for sure. If he's over his injury and is as fit as he thinks, then he could still play at the top level.[LNB]'He could sit in his fantastic house with a pool and enjoy his life for a few months before he starts with LA Galaxy again. But he wants to come over here, freezing cold, and play football. That tells you everything about him. He's still got real passion for the game.'[LNB]Spurs will face competition from a host of Premier League sides as well as from clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany, but they can offer Beckham Champions League football and are the team his late grandfather, Joseph, supported.[LNB]In addition, Beckham was born in Leytonstone, just down the road from Tottenham's training ground, while 'Beckingham Palace' is also a short drive from their Chigwell base. Playing in the Premier League would also put Beckham right under Fabio Capello's nose as he tries to force his way back into the England reckoning. [LNB]Redknapp insists Tottenham's bid to sign Beckham is not financially motivated - from the club's or the player's point of view.[LNB]'He wouldn't be coming here just to sell shirts. In the short term, he's not going to sell a load of shirts,' said Redknapp.[LNB]'He isn't going to come here and get big money - we aren't massive payers at this club. I've heard stories about how much he earns, it is just incredible, mind-blowing.[LNB]'He could buy any football club in this country if he wanted to. He is not going to do it for the money is he?
