01 June 2009 04:01
It is 35 years to the day since Sir Alex Ferguson entered football management.
On June 1 1974 - the year Paul Scholes was born - a 32-year-old Ferguson was appointed manager of East Stirlingshire on a part-time basis earning £40 a week.
Three-and-a-half decades later Ferguson has become the most successful British manager of all time.
The Scot's first success came with St Mirren, the club he led to the 1977 Division One title and guided to the Scottish Premier League.
