Graham Poll - The Official Line: FA must punish Fergie's cruel attack

04 October 2009 23:15
I've always admired Sir Alex Ferguson's achievements but was disappointed with his comments regarding Alan Wiley.[LNB]Under attack: Alan Wiley's physical fitness was questioned by Sir Alex[LNB] There is a saying in refereeing, 'You'll never see a racehorse refereeing a match!' which means that to be obsessed with fitness is a mistake. Wiley had a fine match on Saturday evening.[LNB]Agreed, he does look to be carrying a few excess pounds but he was right up with play to see Kenwyne Jones win the ball ahead of a dithering Ben Foster in the United goal to re-establish the Sunderland lead at 2-1.[LNB]That can't have pleased Sir Alex. The referee was also in a good position with the all important viewing angle to see Anderson foul his opponent, not the other way around as Sir Alex wanted fourth official Mike Dean to believe when United sought an equaliser.[LNB]Ferguson got away with a lengthy rant at Dean. What must have displeased the United boss most was the display by his players and two dropped points at home.[LNB]As usual there is only one person to publically blame for that. The question now is whether the FA will charge Ferguson for his personal comments about Wiley.[LNB]Referees are accused of favouring United at Old Trafford. Can the same be said of the governing body?[LNB] All the Fizz of the Coca-Cola Football LeagueBeckham: I hate being criticised but I try not to let it get me downRoy Keane thinks he's the new Fergie but he is just a nasty piece of workManchester City's Gareth Barry the latest star to face the wrath of his former fans[LNB]  Explore more:People:Ben Foster, Alex Ferguson, Mike Dean, Graham Poll
