But the Old Trafford veteran admits the club are braced for another tug-of-war with Real Madrid for the world player of the year. Giggs, 35, shunned foreign suitors earlier in his career, notching a United record of more than 800 appearances, and he doesn't understand why Ronaldo would possibly would want to leave. 'He is at the best club,' Giggs told The Sun. The Wales international also believes there is no contest when it comes to comparing the Portuguese with Barcelona star Lionel Messi. Giggs continued: 'Cristiano has proved he is the best player in the world over the last couple of years and he has done that at United, so why leave? 'He's still a young player, still learning the game and can still improve. He can do that at United. 'Real Madrid will come back purely because of the club they are and the history they have got. 'But United are more stable in the fact there are no presidential elections and the manager's been here so long.'
