Ryan Giggs will further extend his record-breaking career with Manchester United after putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been rewarded for his superb form during the past 18 months with a new deal which runs until summer 2011.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed he had no hesitation in handing Giggs the new deal as the evergreen former Wales international is playing some of the best football of his lengthy career.

'Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years,' said Ferguson.

'His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football.'

Giggs was named the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year last season, while earlier this month he was handed the BBC Sports Personality of the Year accolade.

He has won 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns during his glittering career with the Red Devils which now stretches to a club record 800 plus first-team appearances.

'I am delighted that I have agreed one more year,' said Giggs.

'I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United.'
