Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has told boss Rafael Benitez he should sign Manchester United's Carlos Tevez and reunite the Argentinian duo at Anfield. The Argentina captain and his international team-mate were briefly at West Ham together when they arrived in the Barclays Premier League in August 2006. But now midfielder Mascherano, who joined Liverpool in January 2007, is aware of the speculation that his fellow countryman could end up playing with him at Liverpool. Benitez is understood to be keen on Tevez - whose loan deal at Old Trafford ends next month. Mascherano said: 'It would be great to have Carlos here with me, I know how good he is. But I don't really know what the situation is, it is certainly a difficult one. I don't know exactly what is happening. 'The only thing I can say is that he is a great player and a great person.' The duo will be playing in the same side next month when Argentina have two World Cup qualifiers against Columbia and Ecuador. Mascherano, meanwhile, blamed draws against Hull, Manchester Cityand Fulham for Liverpool's failure to win the Barclays Premier Leaguetitle this season. He said: 'You can see against the top sides we almost beat all ofthem. But at home we dropped a lot of points against Hull, Manchester City and Fulham. Winning those points could have won us the league.'
