David Moyes has stepped up his efforts to bolster his depleted squad this month after sending scouts to watch Ander Herrera and Diego Costa. United are currently sat in seventh place, managing only ten wins from their opening 20 league games. It is clear that United are over reliant on Wayne Rooney and are lacking a creative midfielder with real quality, making Herrera a real option. Due to Bilbao’s success this season it is unlikely that the La Liga side will shift from his release clause which stands at £30million.Jackson Martinez to Arsenal
Arsenal are thought to be looking at a striker during this window as they have very few options in the attacking department. A player that has been heavily linked to the Gunners is Porto’s Jackson Martinez, the Columbian has been in inspired form netting 12 goals in his 14 league games this season. It would be a risk as Martinez has only played at lower levels but with the injuries to Wenger’s forwards it may be his only option. Jackson has also issued a come and get me plea to Arsenal so the Gunners would only need to match Porto’s valuation of the striker to secure a deal this month.Mohamad Salah to Liverpool
Salah’s agent has already hinted that talks are ongoing with Liverpool and although other clubs are interested the ‘Egyptian Messi’ could join the Reds this month. Salah has impressed several times during the past 18 months against English opposition, netting in both victories over Chelsea in the Champions league this season. The winger has ten goals in all competitions this season and as it stands the club are waiting for his valuation to be matched if he is to leave for greener pastures this month.Joleon Lescott to Aston Villa
It is common knowledge that Lescott is a boyhood Villa fan and although this effectively means nothing he has been heavily linked with Villa this month. The Birmingham born defender only has six months left on his contract and Manchester City are said to be keen on recouping some funds for the centre-half. A £6million price tag has been put on Lescott’s head and if he is determined to make the world cup squad he will need to move as soon as possible. Lescott is clearly surplus to requirements at City, managing just seven starts in the league this campaign.
Talks have allegedly taken place over a permanent deal, which would be similar to Joe Cole’s move to West Ham from Liverpool.Demba Ba to West Ham
The Hammers are desperate for a goal-scorer and Sam Alladyce is hoping that a bid of £6million will return Demba Ba to the Boleyn ground. It is clear that Jose Mourinho has little faith in the forward and a deal which would recoup almost all the money spent on Ba maybe enough to tempt the ‘special one’ to get rid. The Hammers precarious league position maybe off putting for Ba but with Andy Carroll returning to fitness a partnership between the pair could fire West Ham out of trouble. The Senegalese forward has hinted at a move to a Champions league club but I personally don’t feel he is at that level, a proven goal-scorer in the Premier league but having only played five times in Europe I don’t see a top European club taking a chance with him.
