The Portuguese winger was substituted 60 minutes into United's 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the weekend, having opened the scoring, and threw a tracksuit top to the floor before muttering his displeasure. The pictures of the brooding forward were splashed across the national press with his reaction spoiling an afternoon on which United virtually assured themselves of a third Premier League title in a row. However, there tends to be only one winner when United players have stepped out of line under Ferguson: JAAP STAM: Stam had been an integral part of the 1999 Treble-winning team, but the Dutch defender was sold to Lazio in 2001 following a series of revelations in his autobiography, Head-to-Head. DAVID BECKHAM: Ferguson had tired of Beckham's liking for the celebrity lifestyle long before the infamous 'flying boot' episode in February 2003 and his £25m sale to Real Madrid that summer had become inevitable. PAUL INCE: Ince irritated Ferguson with his self-styled 'Guv'nor' nickname before being sold to Inter Milan in the summer of 1995. Ferguson later described the midfielder as a 'big-time Charlie.' RUUD VAN NISTELROOY: Adored by the United supporters after hitting 150 goals in 219 appearances, Ferguson dropped the Dutchman for the 1996 Carling Cup Final and then sanctioned his sale to Real Madrid following a training ground row with Cristiano Ronaldo. GABRIEL HEINZE: The Argentine defender angered Ferguson by attempting to secure a move to Liverpool in 2007. Ferguson refused to allow Heinze to join United's biggest rivals and instead offloaded him to Real Madrid.
