Ferguson wants appeal option

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wants Uefa to introduce an option to appeal against yellow cards in European competition.[LNB] The Old Trafford boss was incensed after Darren Fletcher was booked for diving in Tuesday's home match with CSKA Moscow, with his side fighting back from a two-goal deficit to draw 3-3.[LNB]Ferguson's side secured a place in the knockout stages with the point, but there was a bigger picture for the Scot after Fletcher was cautioned by referee Olegario Benquerenca instead of a penalty being awarded.[LNB]The Red Devils chief fears the yellow card could come back to haunt Fletcher, who was suspended for last season's final defeat to Barcelona, later in the competition and he wants a rule change.[LNB]Ferguson, though, does not have high hopes, saying: "You can't appeal a yellow card. I can understand in domestic football that it could get lost in the system.[LNB]Crucial "But in European football it is crucial because, later in the tournament, to miss a really important game because of that is unfair. They should look at that but they won't."[LNB]Wayne Rooney, whose wife Coleen gave birth to baby boy Kai on Monday, was introduced in the second half and made an impact.[LNB]Ferguson said: "Wayne hadn't had much sleep. I would have preferred to leave him on the bench.[LNB]"He was a safety player that we knew we could have played if we needed him - he was there.[LNB]"I think his energy and confidence was very high. He makes an impact. He is such a good player and is always capable of scoring. He was a wee bit unlucky."[LNB]
