Ferguson urges caution

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned his Manchester United players against complacency in the title run-in. With United seven points clear of both Chelsea and Liverpool with a game in hand at the Premier League summit, few would bet against a third successive championship being toasted at Old Trafford by the end of the season. Sunday's Carling Cup final success against Tottenham has further fuelled talk of United claiming a quintuple, with the Fifa Club World Cup already sat in the club's trophy cabinet. Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink believes his side are still capable of toppling United at the summit and Ferguson concedes there is still much to do before they can rest easy. "I keep saying it and nobody seems to listen, but March and April are the months that decide the league title," said Ferguson. "A lot can happen in those months. We have lost leagues in March and April in the past and we have also won them by going on fantastic runs at that time. "I think we will drop points between now and the end of the season, but I also believe that the others will drop points too." A wily campaigner of numerous title run-ins over the years, Ferguson believes it will be a nip-and-tuck affair between now and the end of the season. Nip-and-tuckHe said: "You hope to disturb your opponents and I have done it myself because you hope to get nearer. "But we won't take anything lightly and we go to Newcastle on Wednesday knowing that they are fighting for survival and that it won't be easy. "It will be nip-and-tuck for all teams in the division, so we will not be falling into any traps."
