Ferguson hails Giggs contribution

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could not have asked for more from Ryan Giggs after holding him in check to cover Park Ji-sung's departure to the Asian Cup. Despite celebrating his 37th birthday in November, it now appears certain Giggs will be handed a one-year contract extension in the summer. The Welshman might have ruled out any possibility of a return to the international stage but his commitment to United remains undiminished. And once again, Giggs has proved Ferguson can rely on him in times of crisis. "Keeping Ryan fresh is going to be the secret for us," said the United boss. "We have lost Ji for seven matches, which is a lot because he makes such a tremendous contribution to our team. We needed Ryan fresh for this challenge."
