Ferguson eyes more success

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident his current Manchester United team can set a new record of top-flight titles. United can equal Liverpool's landmark of 18 championship successes on Saturday by avoiding defeat at home to Arsenal. Ferguson, however, will not settle for merely matching his club's fiercest rivals' achievements and has his sights set on more trophies. With a third consecutive title on the horizon, the United boss is excited by the potential he currently has in his squad. ''I am not looking at equalling anyone,'' said Ferguson. ''We just want to look on ourselves as being the best. This team has got a bit to go yet. ''But they can go on and win other titles. That is far more exciting. It resonates far more with me than simply equalling someone.'' Legends Ferguson's current squad has a blend of youth and experience, with the Scot believing the younger members of his squad can make impacts similar to the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville. He added: ''Giggs, Scholes and Neville had such great potential when they were young and still learning. The younger ones we have now are just the same. ''The difference is they have shown it at a harder level of football. It is much more difficult now. ''All you can say is that Giggs, Neville and Scholes may be dinosaurs, but in terms of longevity, continuity of performance and achievement they have elevated themselves to the status of legends.''
