Fergie to consider £62.5m bid for Ribery - but only if Ronaldo moves to Madrid

Manchester United are prepared to smash the record transfer fee to sign Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery - if Cristiano Ronaldo joins Real Madrid. Reports in The Guardian suggest United have made a £62.5million offer for the France international, although Sportsmail understands no bid has yet been made. A £62.5m offer would comfortably surpass the £47m paid by Real Madrid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001 and Ribery would replace Ronaldo as United's highest paid player. The 26-year-old currently earns £7m a year, around £134,000 a week, at the Munich club. Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to make a bid for Ribery before the player goes on holiday in June, but the transfer is dependant on Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford.
