Fergie Targets Three Newcomers

Sir Alex Ferguson says that he will be looking to make three new signings for the club during the summer transfer window. There is no doubt that replacements are needed with Edwin van der Sar retiring and Paul Scholes yet to confirm his intentions. Others who may not be at the club much longer are Michael Owen, Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves. Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley are now ready to step up a notch after going out and proving themselves while on-loan at Premier League clubs, but there is still a need for fresh playing staff. Fergie told MUTV: "We have some ideas in mind, hopefully we can get them put in place. "We have Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes coming towards the end of their careers, Gary Neville has already retired and Edwin van der Sar is retiring, so there are holes we want to plug up in terms of the safety and security of the team for the next few years. "Of course, we have some excellent young players and a lot of them have progressed, which gives us a great, powerful squad. "I am looking at maybe three signings which would boost our overall quality in our team."
