Fergie Still Wants Winter Break

Sir Alex Ferguson has again reiterated his call for a winter break in the English season, saying TV companies have way too much power. It’s no secret that Fergie is a strong advocate of a two-week halt to the domestic programme, and he says that break should come straight after the busy Christmas programme. "I have been saying this for years," said the United boss. "It is not just to give the players a rest, it would also freshen everyone up mentally, including staff.” However, Ferguson is not holding out any hope of a break being implemented, believing stopping fixtures is not something TV companies would accept. "Somehow they just will not listen to the people who really matter in the game - supporters, players, staff and coaches. "That's when maybe you think TV has too much power," he added.
