Fergie hails 'remarkable' Giggs

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Ryan Giggs' ability to adapt to a new style of play. The 35-year-old Welshman made four assists in the Manchester derby last weekend and has received accolades for his pinpoint passing. After years of terrorising defences with his blistering pace, the Red Devils veteran has adapted his game, to great credit from his manager. "For most of his career Ryan has been looked upon as an attacking player whose great strength was to get the opposition on the back foot - that's what he has been doing for 15 years," Ferguson said. "But as you get older, you need to think differently about how you can get the best out of yourself. "Maybe his passing is something we are just noticing now. But that is because he has changed the way he plays, not because it wasn't there." MilestoneGiggs is just one goal away from netting 100 times in the Premier League, having scored in every season since 1993, and is one strike away from a total of 150 for United. "One hundred and forty-nine goals puts him up there among most of our great goalscorers," Ferguson added. "We never looked upon him as an out-and-out goalscorer. He was an out-and-out winger. Any goals we got from a player in his position was a bonus. "It is not a matter of him defying his age. It is more a case that there is no discernable deterioration in his game at all. It is remarkable."
