Fergie - Foster will start

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Ben Foster will start in goal against Stoke despite his shaky display in the Manchester derby last week. The 26-year-old was at fault for Manchester City's first goal at Old Trafford on Sunday when he allowed Carlos Tevez to dispossess him in his area, and while there was nothing he could do with Craig Bellamy's first strike there were some suggestions that he went to ground too early for the Welshman's second. Despite Tomasz Kuszczak performing well in the 1-0 win over Wolves in the Carling Cup in midweek Ferguson has given his support to the England international. Foster will come under close scrutiny against his former club with Stoke sure to target the under fire shot-stopper with their usual aerial bombardment. But the Red Devils manager is confident Foster, who never played for the Potters' first team during his three years at the club, will come through the test. "It was a good opportunity for Tomasz to play on Wednesday but Ben will play tomorrow," Ferguson confirmed. "Ben has not had a lot of game experience but he will be OK." The Scot also revealed that first choice keeper Edwin van der Sar was still some way off full fitness after surgery on his hand. "We still feel he is three weeks away," he stated.
