Fergie Fined, Nani Banned

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has been fined €10,000 by UEFA for failing to fulfil his post-match media duties after the Champions League match against Real Madrid.

In the game Nani was sent off and Ferguson was outraged by the decision with United leading the game 1-0. By the time the game ended United were 2-1 down and out of the competition.

The United boss had no doubts that it was a mistake by the referee and was so angry after the game he refused to speak to the press. Champions League regulations compel clubs to "make their manager/head coach available" for a UEFA-run news conference within 20 minutes of the final whistle.

Also in trouble today was Nani himself who was banned for one game after being sent off in the same incident.
