A BLANK weekend in the Premier League calendar has given Sir Alex Ferguson time to write to Santa. The United boss still appears to have Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko top of his festive wish-list. The 23-year-old Bosnian striker impressed in the Champions League group match at Old Trafford in September, and will be closely checked on again next month when the Reds' visit Germany in the final match of their section. Elsewhere, Edwin Van der Sar is set to be offered another 12-month extension to his United contract and is more than likely to accept. However, Tomasz Kuszczak's Old Trafford future is still in doubt and could mean a search for another keeper in the January transfer window is on the agenda. Fergie has said he will only enter into business this winter if he can get value for money. He said: "I would like to do business but only if the prices are right - and that can be a problem in January." Up front still remains his priority this term and the likes of David Villa (Valencia), Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux) and Carlton Cole (West Ham) have all been linked with the Reds.
