Fergie expects few arrivals
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he expects there to be little transfer activity at Old Trafford this summer.[LNB] The Red Devils are currently closing in on a third successive Premier League title while the European champions have booked their place in this season's UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona.[LNB]Despite boasting a strong squad, a number of reports have linked United with incomings when the transfer window reopens, with the likes of Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery said to be a target.[LNB]Ferguson, though, has insisted the club have yet to identify any potential captures and has stated that he expects few incomings come the end of the campaign.[LNB]"We won't be going for a lot of players ourselves this summer, that is a fact," said the Scot.[LNB]Honest"We have a big squad at the moment and I can honestly say there is no one we have actually identified that we want to bring here at the moment.[LNB]"We have had a look at quite a few players over the year, as we normally do, but we are not looking to add a lot of players to our squad."[LNB]Ferguson is, however, predicting much transfer activity at bitter rivals Manchester City, who are expected to continue to improve their squad with the backing of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan's financial clout.[LNB]"It is going to be a busy summer for them," said Ferguson, who locks horns with City on Sunday.[LNB]Rivals"But it is all about availability. Some clubs don't want to sell their players to anyone, which is admirable.[LNB]"It is a difficulty. You could have a check list of players but it is reduced by 50% because clubs don't want to sell.[LNB]"Then a lot of clubs, knowing that City have that money there, will be adding noughts onto the value of every player they go for.[LNB]"Mark has to try and evaluate the players he wants at his values rather than their values. That is the difficult thing."[LNB]
