Fergie does not fear Porto

Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that Porto can be beaten at home ahead of Manchester United's trip to the Estadio do Dragao.[LNB] History suggests that United will find it difficult to progress past their Portuguese opponents and into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League following a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their tie at Old Trafford.[LNB]Porto are unbeaten at home against English sides and have won all but one of eight European ties after drawing away in the first leg.[LNB]However, Ferguson is not fazed by Porto's formidable record and maintains that Jesualdo Ferreira's men have already shown they can be inconsistent.[LNB]"Porto are a very aggressive team, especially on their own ground," said the United boss.[LNB]"The introduction of Brazilian and Argentinean players into their team has given them both a flair and toughness that is very much in evidence when they play at home.[LNB]Mixed fortunes"They can have their off days though. They lost on their own ground to Dynamo Kiev in the group stages earlier this season and were also well beaten by Arsenal at the Emirates."[LNB]Ferguson has experienced both success and failure in his past meetings with Porto but he is confident of coming out on top on Wednesday.[LNB]He said: "We have had mixed fortunes against them in the past. I recall, in the time of Eric Cantona, when we beat them 4-0 at Old Trafford and then drew 0-0 in Portugal. [LNB]"The most recent experience was not so successful, when we came up against an emerging Jose Mourinho.[LNB]"They are a different proposition now though."[LNB]
