Fergie & Arshavin win awards

Sir Alex Ferguson has won the Manager of the Month award for April, while Arsenal playmaker Andrey Arshavin has picked up the Player of the Month prize.[LNB] Manchester United boss Ferguson has been awarded the April accolade after guiding the Premier League leaders to four wins out of four during the month.[LNB]The reigning champions started the month with a dramatic 3-2 home win over Aston Villa, with teenage match-winner Federico Macheda repeating the trick in the following game against Sunderland.[LNB]United then beat Portsmouth 2-0 in a rearranged fixture before coming back from two goals down to thump Tottenham Hotspur 5-2 at Old Trafford at the end of the month.[LNB]Ferguson's men have started May with a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough before securing a spot in a second successive UEFA Champions League final after a 4-1 aggregate win over domestic rivals Arsenal.[LNB]It is the 23rd time that Ferguson has been named Manager of the Month and the second occasion this season after he picked up the honour in January.[LNB]Arshavin awardMeanwhile, Russian schemer Arshavin has won the Player of the Month prize after scoring five goals in four Premier League appearances in April.[LNB]Arshavin is quickly demonstrating he can be a success in English football following his transfer window move from Zenit St Petersburg and has sparkled in recent weeks.[LNB]He capped an influential display with a goal in the 4-1 win at Wigan before a stunning individual performance in the 4-4 draw at Liverpool.[LNB]The 27-year-old scored all four of the Gunners' goals and his absence from the club's Champions League plans was sorely felt.[LNB]
