Patrice Evra admits that he was 'angry' that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson decided to rest him for the 2-1 win at Sunderland.[LNB] The Red Devils defender has been an influential figure in the team's record breaking backline this season as the champions close in on a third successive Premier League crown.[LNB]The 27-year-old has racked up 24 appearances in the league this term but, along with a number of his United colleagues, the former Monaco ace has recently appeared to be feeling the strain from a long hard season.[LNB]Ferguson decided to freshen things up for the trip to the Stadium of Light, opting instead to play John O'Shea at left-back to Evra's displeasure.[LNB]"The boss gave me a rest at Sunderland recently and I was angry because I want to play in every match for United," he told the Daily Star Sunday.[LNB]Anger"When I retire, maybe I'll look back at the games I missed. I don't play in all our matches but usually at the back it's me, Edwin Van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who play when we are fit."[LNB]The French international believes that the team are back on track following successive defeats to Liverpool and Fulham in March and reveals that their fighting spirit is the reason why they are on course for a record equalling 18th league title.[LNB]"Everyone speaks about the strikers at United," he added.[LNB]"But we also need a good defence and the clean sheet we got in Porto in the last round of the Champions League was very important.[LNB]"When we lost to Liverpool it was a difficult moment for the team and after that, sometimes you don't have to play beautiful football to win.[LNB]"Sometimes you have to fight."[LNB]
