Evra: Reds 'have attitude problem'

PATRICE Evra has blasted United for mentally imploding at Everton and talking themselves into defeat. The Reds lost ground in the title race and surrendered valuable goal difference advantage with their 3-1 loss at Goodison while Chelsea won 2-0 at Wolves. The Londoners are now four points clear and have a better goal difference. But the Reds left-back believes United's attitude was wrong on Merseyside. "We are disappointed and upset," said Evra. "I don't want to give the excuse that we are tired after the amazing night in the San Siro. Yes, we are tired. I am tired. But mentally we lost the game. "Everyone was talking about how tired they were and how their legs were tired. We were not focused about the game. "That is why I don't want to use Milan as an excuse. We didn't have the spirit of winners and that is why we lost. Frustrated [LNB] "We didn't believe enough. I am not saying someone did not show their character. It is just what I am thinking myself. This is why I am very frustrated. "It was a tough game. Goodison is not an easy place to go. But we just needed a little bit more belief and we could have got a better result. "We started well. We played good football. Afterwards, when they equalised it was more difficult for us. We started to lose a lot of challenges. "It was not the best of United. We could find a lot of excuses and say we were tired but I am disappointed. Sometimes it happens." United can hit back on Tuesday night when they play their Old Trafford match against West Ham United. The fixture was rearranged because of United's Wembley commitments against Aston Villa this Sunday in the Carling Cup final. Chance [LNB] It provides an immediate chance of recovery and an opportunity to close the gap to one point, though Chelsea will have a game in hand. "The target before the game at Everton was that if we can win there, we can win the title," added Patrice. "We didn't do that. Now we have West Ham so we must make sure we get three points before the Carling Cup final. It doesn't damage us. But it is more difficult than we think to win the league. "West Ham won't be easy. We only have three days to recover but if we have a good win I will be pleased." The Reds will have Rio Ferdinand back to face the Hammers with fellow-defender Nemanja Vidic also in contention.[LNB]
