Everton Superkid to follow in Rooney's footsteps

David Moyes is determined that Evertons highly promising youngster will get to realise his true potential at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are ready to make a sensational offer for Everton superkid Ross Barkley.

The Daily Star Sunday (I know!) says Manchester City have joined United in hoping to prise Barkley, 20, from Goodison.

United boss David Moyes gave the midfielder his debut when he was in charge at Everton and has made him a top target. This is set to further inflame the relations between the two clubs after the Fellaini-Baines fiasco of the summer.

Moyes and United chief executive Ed Woodward had a five-hour meeting last Monday to discuss transfer targets and Barkley was a key part of the conversation.

The United boss would like the deal done BEFORE next summers World Cup to ensure that there isnt absolute mayhem in the scramble for his signature.

It has been mooted that United could offer Tom Cleverley who played for Everton boss Roberto Martinez as a loan signing at Wigan as part of the deal.

Txiki Begiristain, Citys sporting director, also claims to have been tracking Barkley for two years. (course he has!).
