Evans seeks major medal
Jonny Evans insists a Carling Cup winners' medal would mean more to him than his World Club Cup gong.[LNB] The centre-half is expected to feature for Manchester United in Sunday's Wembley showdown with Tottenham.[LNB]Having played a prominent role in the Red Devils' progression to the final, Evans is determined to get his hands on the trophy.[LNB]He was part of the side that secured global dominance with victory in Japan in December but claims domestic glory would give him more pleasure.[LNB]"Everyone made a big deal out of the Club World Cup but winning on Sunday would be a greater achievement for me personally," Evans told United's official website. [LNB]"I've played four tough games to get to Wembley, whereas I was only involved in the two finals in Japan because I was on loan at Sunderland last season.[LNB]"We've been on a fantastic unbeaten run and when you're in a cup final you want to make sure you win it.[LNB]"I've never played at Wembley. I warmed up for the Community Shield this season, but that's about it, so I'm really looking forward to the game."[LNB]StableEvans is likely to require pain-killing injections to get through the weekend contest but, with Sir Alex Ferguson's side currently blighted by injuries, the Northern Ireland international admits he is willing to do whatever is necessary to get out on the field.[LNB]He said: "My ankle is a lot better now, it's pretty stable and the only reason I had pain-killing injections against Inter was to take the edge off it, to take away the pain.[LNB]"It's a shame that Rafael's out injured, he's really disappointed he's not going to make it, but that's football and it can happen to anyone at any time.[LNB]"It would be fantastic for the other youngsters in the squad to pick up a winners' medal so early on in our careers. And we won't be overawed."[LNB]
