Europe's elite eye Pandev

Goran Pandev is wanted by the majority of the best clubs in Europe and could wait for a season before leaving Lazio on a free transfer, according to his agent. The Macedonian striker's vociferous representative, Carlo Pallavicino, has announced that the 25-year-old would and then would not be penning a new deal with the Rome-based outfit. Now he has heaped pressure on the club to offer a new, better deal by claiming that most of the club's in the Champions League quarter-finals made enquiries about his availability - which means at least two Premier League clubs are in the chase. Reports suggest that Pandev is on around £500,000-per-year, but wants to triple that at least, but Lazio's president Claudio Lotito has insisted that the club will not be forced into selling him. With Juventus being strongly linked, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be interested, but Pallavicino believes that the level of interest is much higher. "Pandev is the object of desire for half of Europe," he told Radio Kiss Kiss. "With his contract expiring in 2010 and the possibility of using the Article 17 law, it is normal that a player is very hungry. "I say only that, of the teams who participated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, six out of eight of them want to sign him."
