England star looking at extending Old Trafford tenure

It all looked very doubtful during the summer with Chelsea offering £20 million plus. Seems like small money now as United star has proved all his doubters wrong with probably his best period of all round performances in a United shirt.

Wayne Rooney's representatives are ready to thrash out a bumper new deal with Manchester United, according to reports.

According to Metro. co. uk, the England forward's current contract is due to run out at the end of next season and there was speculation his camp had turned down offers from United to pen a new contract.

There are claims Rooney's agent Paul Stretford has been in conversation with the Old Trafford hierarchy about arranging formal talks between the two parties, with the Red Devils eager to ensure their talisman stays at the club and fend off Chelsea and Arsenal interest, the report said.

Rooney is currently on a deal paying him 250,000 pounds a week and United hope to entice him with a four-year offer on the same wages, which could bag him an incredible 52 million pounds over that period, the report added.
