England Boss Backing Rooney To Shine

Wayne Rooney has received a boost from England manager Fabio Capello who has told the forward: 'You're still my main man'. Its fair to say that Rooney has not been at his best over the last year, he had a slump in form for United and the same on the England front. That added to revelations about his personal life did not bode well for United’s golden boy. But the England boss is confident that Rooney can produce the magic for tonight’s England game against Denmark. He told the Sun: "He's suffered ankle problems but, in terms of assists, he has had 12 and scored two goals last week." Capello revealed that United boss Alex Ferguson had told him Rooney was still key to their title bid. He added: "Sir Alex said he was really happy with Rooney's performances this season. "He said the reason Dimitar Berbatov has played well this year is because Rooney played well and helped him a lot. "But, for a forward, scoring goals is important too. "He scored twice against Aston Villa and that was really good for him. Rooney is really important but not only for Sir Alex."
