Double dent to United's trophy hopes as O'Shea and Neville are ruled out
Manchester United's hopes of claiming a second consecutive Barclays Premier League and Champions League double have been hit by the news they will be without Gary Neville and John O'Shea for several weeks. [LNB]The defenders will be sidelined until next month after picking up injuries in last night's 2-0 win over Portsmouth. [LNB]O'Shea had replaced Neville who suffered a foot injury shortly after Wayne Rooney had given United the lead in the first half. [LNB][LNB][LNB] Agony: Neville limped off before O'Shea (below) joined him in the treatment room[LNB]And the Republic of Ireland international was replaced by Rafael da Silva early in the second half after picking up an ankle injury. [LNB]The experienced duo will miss both legs of United's Champions League semi-final against Arsenal after manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the severity of the injuries.[LNB] 'There were two bad tackles on them, but no action was taken and they will be out for weeks now, unfortunately,' Ferguson told Sky Sports. [LNB]'Gary Neville has had to go for an X-ray and John O'Shea will have a scan. They will both be out for a few weeks now and that's the disappointment about that.'[LNB] However, United will be boosted by the return of Wes Brown, who will play for the reserves tonight (Thursday) as he continues his recovery from a foot injury picked up in November. [LNB]And Ferguson suggested the England international could even feature against Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday. [LNB]'Fortunately, we've got Wes Brown back and he plays for the reserves again. That's his second game. [LNB]'We'll give him one half because he could be involved on Saturday.'
