The Real Madrid winger reportedly wants to play Champions League football next season therefore ruling out his much anticipated move to Manchester United.

AS reports that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez met with PSG’s Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Friday. The meeting reportedly took place in Madrid and it is expected that PSG will pay £48 million for Di Maria.

Previous reports had suggested that Di Maria had already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils but the deal could all go to waste because of the fact that United will not be making an appearance in the Champions League next season.

Di Maria, whose participation in the World Cup final is still uncertain due to injury, was initially keen on joining Louis Van Gaal’s side but the temptation of Champions League football seems too good to pass up.

The Argentine has been linked with a move away from Los Blancos as they prepare a bid for Colombian star James Rodriguez. Both Manchester United and PSG are very interested in the winger, with United reportedly offering him £150,000-a-week contract.
