Portsmouth have signed Manchester United defender Ritchie De Laet on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Belgium international, who has already enjoyed spells at Sheffield United and Preston this season, looks likely to be included in the Pompey squad that travels to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Blues boss Steve Cotterill told the club's official website: "We're very pleased to have Ritchie on loan for the rest of the season.
"He's a very flexible defender who can play across the back four. The defence was an area we needed to strengthen, so I'm delighted.
"We're also very grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United for letting us have him."
