David de Gea will cost Manchester United at least £18m

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has told Manchester United they will have to cough up at least ?18million to land David de Gea. [LNB]Spaniard De Gea is the man Sir Alex Ferguson wants to replace Edwin van der Sar when the veteran keeper retires at the end of the season and United have been preparing a ?15m summer bid. [LNB]Ferguson has watched De Gea extensively over the past year and was hoping a ?15m deal would be finalised quickly, and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele is laying the groundwork for his arrival by taking Spanish lessons. [LNB] Raising the stakes: United have been told De Gea is worth at least ?18m[LNB]But Atletico are digging their heels in and Cerezo said: 'As of this morning nobody has asked about him. Ask Manchester United about it but ?18m doesn't seem too much to me. We hope he will be a Rojiblanco player for a long time.' [LNB]United have been linked with a host of keepers including Schalke's Manuel Neuer, Scotland pair Allan McGregor and Craig Gordon, Julio Cesar of Inter Milan and Ajax stopper Maarten Stekelenburg. [LNB]But 20-year-old De Gea, under contract until 2013, has jumped to the top of the list since establishing himself as one of the best keepers in the Spanish top flight.
