Darren Fletcher out of Scotland clash with Liechtenstein

Scotland captain Darren Fletcher has been ruled out of Saturday`s Euro 2012 qualifier against Liechtenstein.[LNB]The Manchester United midfielder has yet to join up with the rest of the squad after being struck down with tonsilitis.[LNB]However, Scotland manager Craig Levein is hopeful he will be available for their final Group I game against Spain in Alicante on Tuesday night.[LNB] Slip up: Darren Fletcher missed a penalty against Lithuania[LNB]A statement from the SFA confirmed: 'Darren Fletcher will not travel to Liechtenstein due to tonsillitis but remains in contention for Spain and his progress will continue to be assessed by medical staff.'[LNB]Fletcher, who played 90 minutes as Manchester United beat Norwich 2-0 on Saturday, had recently returned to the international fold following an absence through illness.[LNB]He made his first Scotland appearance this year in last month's 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic after recovering from a virus, before featuring in a 1-0 win over Lithuania a few days later.[LNB] Chance: Wigan's James McArthur (left) has been called into the Scotland squad[LNB]Earlier, Wigan midfielder James McArthur was called into the squad after Robert Snodgrass pulled out with an ankle injury.[LNB]Blackpool pair Stephen Crainey and Matt Gilks were also forced to withdraw and were replaced by Lee Wallace and Cammy Bell.[LNB]The Scots are still sweating over the fitness of striker Kenny Miller, while Alan Hutton is also nursing an injury.[LNB]Miller has a minor tear in his groin and is likely to miss Saturday's clash against Liechtenstein in Vaduz, but the Cardiff striker is hopeful of being fit to face Spain.[LNB]Hutton sat out training on Tuesday with a knee problem.[LNB]  Snodgrass KO sees Wigan's McArthur join Scotland squad for crunch qualifiersPain game: Fletcher hit by tonsillitis to hit Levein's plans for gloryWe're up for final challenge!
