A witch who claims he has been hired to put a curse on Cristiano Ronaldo says he was also asked to target David Beckham and Lionel Messi.[LNB]Real Madrid star Ronaldo has been ruled out for up to four weeks with an ankle injury first sustained in a Champions League match against Marseille - shortly after reports in Spain revealed claims of a voodoo attack.[LNB]And the sorcerer - who calls himself Pepe - has broken his initial anonymity to explain the process in a round of TV interviews in Spain.[LNB] Cursed: Cristiano Ronaldo has his ankle strapped after limping off in Portugal's win over Hungary on Saturday[LNB]Pain in Spain: David Beckham clutches his right leg during his days at Real Madrid[LNB]The client said to have paid him £28,000 is described as a 'jilted lover', 'non-European' and 'a very wealthy heiress from a well-known family'. [LNB]The description immediately led to gossip sites speculating as to the identity of the spurned lover, though friends of Ronaldo and Real Madrid officials have brushed off as ridiculous the idea that anyone has hired the witch.[LNB]Pepe insists he is not a fraud and says he has turned down higher offers to reverse the spell.[LNB]And he warns: 'He will spend more time injured than playing. There will be many small injuries or one that keeps him out for five months. The aim is to keep him from playing football.[LNB]'It is voodoo. First I need a recent photo. Then I use a doll with nails piercing the ankles, spine and head. Then I seal it with wax, wrap a parchment around it and bury it. I don't rule out attacking any other body parts, such as the knees.'[LNB]The witch, based near Malaga, says he has been practising for many years and has often been approached to target footballers, including Barcelona star Messi and several former Real Madrid players.[LNB]'Other people have called me to do the same to Messi, but I refuse. One woman asked me to go against Beckham and (Brazilian) Ronaldo, (Esteban) Cambiasso, (Fabio) Cannavaro...'[LNB]Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro insists the claims are bogus but there are fears that the story could play on the mind of the former Manchester United star as much as the actual magic.[LNB]Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara, the man who actually inflicted the injury on Ronaldo, insists there was no malicious intent behind the tackle that caused the damage on September 30.[LNB] Don't blame me, I didn't mean to hurt Ronaldo, insists Marseille's DiawaraFormer Manchester United star Ronaldo struck by voodoo spell from witchRonaldo dismisses fears of long lay-off after star is injured on Portugal dutyMARTIN SAMUEL: Ronaldo weaves his magic for Portugal in one 27 minute spell [LNB]  Explore more:People:Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, David BeckhamPlaces:Barcelona, Spain, Hungary, Portugal
